Lighting Mentor is a GPT developed as an educational tool to assist users in solving queries and guiding them through learning new topics. It functions on top of the platform, ChatGPT, and to access it, a ChatGPT Plus subscription is required. The main objective of the Lighting Mentor is to work as a personalized, digital mentor, ready to explain a range of academic concepts at any time. It does so by offering solutions or guidance to inquiries, essentially making it an interactive and responsive study partner that can explain a diversity of topics. Examples of prompt starters given by Lighting Mentor are ‘What is the best method to prepare for a mathematics examination?’, ‘Can you help me understand photosynthesis?’, and ‘How does the water cycle work?’. The community builder function was included in its design process to allow a wider range of educators or learners to become involved and provide direct input into the development of the GPT.
